Fred Brock
Fred Brock is the author of the best-selling Retire on Less Than You Think: The New York Times Guide to Planning Your Financial Future (2nd Edition – Times Books/Henry Holt, 2008); Health Care on Less Than You Think: The New York Times Guide to Getting Affordable Coverage (Times Book/Henry Holt, 2006); and Live Well on Less Than You Think: The New York Times Guide to Achieving Your Financial Freedom (Times Books/Henry Holt, 2005). For more than a decade he was a business editor and columnist at The New York Times. For six years he wrote that paper’s “Seniority” column and was the author of the “Off the Rack” media column prior to that. He has also worked as an editor and reporter for The Wall Street Journal, The Houston Chronicle and The Louisville Courier-Journal. He holds an M.Ed. from Temple University and a B.A. in English literature from Hanover College, and has taught undergraduate and graduate reporting and editing at New York University and at Kansas State University, where he held the R.M. Seaton Professional Journalism Chair. He has been a fellow at the Washington Journalism Center, with a concentration in public affairs reporting. He lives in Arizona, where he is an adjunct professor at the University of Arizona's School of Journalism and continues to contribute to The New York Times. |
